Undergraduate major advisers play an important role in supporting students throughout their academic careers. They assist majors with course planning, degree requirements, and navigating university policies, while also offering guidance on research opportunities, internships, and post-graduation plans such as employment, graduate study, or professional programs.
Students are encouraged to consult their assigned major adviser regularly to ensure steady progress toward degree completion and to discuss academic and professional goals. Students should also develop and maintain an Academic Plan (see templates), share it with their adviser, and keep it updated as courses, interests, or goals change. Having an up-to-date plan on file helps advisers provide timely, accurate guidance and supports efficient progress toward graduation.
