Robert Pepin

Biography

Dr. Pepin earned his PhD at the University of Washington under the guidance of Professor František Tureček exploring the mechanisms of electron-based fragmentations in the gas-phase environment of a mass spectrometer.  Taking this solid foundation in the fundamentals of mass spectrometry he moved into applications with a post-doctoral fellowship in the Northwest Metabolomics Research Center at the University of Washington School of Medicine with Prof. Daniel Raftery.  There he was responsible for the development and use of a 300+ target LC-MS/MS assay of key metabolic intermediates.  Following this he joined Indiana University’s Mass Spectrometry Facility where he collaborated with investigators across the IU system and beyond on the development and application of mass spectrometry-based methods to address the analytical needs of those collaborators.  He joined Lehigh University in July 2026 as the Director of Instrumentation for the Department of Chemistry.
