Biography

Prof. Richey obtained his B.S. in chemistry at the University of Arizona, where he participated in undergraduate research studying the “total synthesis” of inorganic nanoparticles with Prof. Jeffrey Pyun. This led him to obtain his PH.D. in Inorganic chemistry from the University of Florida with Prof. Lisa McElwee-White, where he worked on the synthesis of precursors for thin film depositions. Taking time away from the synthesis aspect he joined a chemical engineering lab at Stanford University, under Prof. Stacey Bent, to learn more about vapor phase deposition techniques, particularly atomic layer deposition. Finally, before joining Lehigh University in 2024, he worked for several years at Lam Research, a leading semiconductor equipment manufacturer, as a process engineer.

Teaching

Prof. Richey currently teaches in the General Chemistry curriculum (CHM 30 and CHM 31) and is the lead lab instructor for CHM 30.
