"Ultrafast photochemical dynamics in dyes used for solar hydrogen production"

The McCamant lab studies the ultrafast excited-state dynamics that occur following light absorption in solar fuel production systems. Their molecular and nanoparticle systems are components that can be incorporated into sustainable production of hydrogen, H2, from photochemical water splitting. This talk presents new studies of the ultrafast dynamics occurring from photoexcited dyes used for solar hydrogen production. The McCamant lab uses a variety of steady-state spectroscopy and femtosecond laser techniques to study the initial energy and electron transfer events that precede production of hydrogen from aqueous ascorbic acid solutions.
